Relaxation massage ultimately relaxes the body and mind by the use of long, smooth, gliding strokes which are rhythmic and flowing. It is a form of massage which aims to deeply relax the body without pain, whilst restoring it back to balance.
Massage triggers the body’s relaxation response, interrupting a cycle of stress and muscle tension that can accumulate in response to life’s challenges, bringing about a sense of total relaxation.
Unlike other massage therapies, the aim is not to relieve chronic pain or address any underlying ailments.
Relaxation massage is beneficial for improving day to day living and taking control over the body’s response to stress. Massage promotes healing by increasing circulation of blood and lymph which reduces painful swelling and inflammation. It also brings vital nutrients to damaged tissues and removes waste products (such as lactic/carbonic acid). In addition, this technique stimulates healthy separation and realignment of chronically contracted muscle fibers.
